Our COVID-19 Strategy

We are supporting families during COVID-19 with the choice of either an interactive virtual summer camps, or socially-distanced in-person (outdoors) camps. Students get to keep the high-quality Art and Science Kits.

Virtual Camp Captivate 2021 will be amazing! We will offer 15 age-differentiated themes, small class sizes, and customized curated science and art material kits for you to keep, all included in the price of the camp. Choose either the virtual camp or the in-person (outdoors) option. Dedicated instructors will offer engaging classes. Since you keep the supplies, this will allow for more learning to happen outside of the camp time.

Science Smart Kids Inc. (Camp Captivate) takes the safety and health of our community very seriously, and we have decided to offer families choices during Camp Captivate 2021. We are preparing for a socially-distanced, in-person (outdoors) option as well as the virtual camp option. We have continually monitored the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic and are studying the ever-changing recommendations of the Center of Disease Control (CDC) as well as the Santa Clara County Public Health Department. We are researching best practices and are actively monitoring recommendations and input of the American Camp Association and fellow camp directors. Although we believe that virtual camps are the safest option, we understand that children are craving social peer interaction and that parents, after a year of shelter in place, may need childcare support.

Review Santa Clara County Public Health department’s Guidance for Summer Camps, Summer School Programs, and Other Children’s Activities.

Our “Safety Plan” and “Staff Training Modules” have been adapted post COVID-19 to increase cleanliness and decrease possible person to person transmission, and we will use this when we are able to resume traditional physical camps at school sites in 2021. We will continue to monitor updates at the federal, state and local level. At this point, we believe we can service our families best by offering choice, which is hands-on and process-based at its core.

As a company, we have invested a great deal of time and energy to produce innovative STEAM camps. The beauty of these virtual camps is that you will get to keep the science kits and art kits forever, and this can serve for endless hours of extensions long after the camps are over. If you have additional questions or feedback, please email Ildiko Stennis, the Camp owner, at ildiko@sciencesmartkids.com.
